Simba Sports club were held to a barren draw by a hard fighting Red Sea of Eritrea in an exciting final group game clash at the National Stadium on Sunday.

Both sides gave it everything with Simba going closest when Mohamed Banka’s shot hit the outside of the post with Red Sea keeper Daniel Goitom beaten.

In the second half Simba came back with more firepower and in the 57th minute Red Sea keeper Daniel Goitom was forced into another quality save with two feet to keep out a Derick Walulya 40 yard screamer. Red Sea’s best opportunity fell to Samwel Berhane but he failed to connect with a Biniam Fissehaye pass. Continue reading

Sudanese Arabic newspaper, Al-Sudani, reported that on June 26, 2011,  Haile Menkarios, an Eritrean national and United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative to Sudan, is reported to have been engaged  in Khartoum to a Sudanese national called Ala Abdel-Majid Ali Hassan.

Ms. Ala is an employee of the UN in Sudan and the daughter of an ex-Sudanese ambassador. Continue reading
