The Minster of Information and Government spokesperson, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin has stated that Eritrea’s support to the struggle of the people of South Sudan includes paying a lot of human sacrifices.  He mentioned this salient remark when he met the visiting Eritrean Foreign Minister, Mr. Osman Saleh, in his office, yesterday, in the capital Juba.  

The Eritrean Foreign Minister also conveyed message of congratulations from the people and Government of Eritrea to the people and Government of the Republic of South Sudan. The Minister asserted to all South Sudanese that Eritrea would stand on the side of the people and Government of South Sudan in the same manner as it did during their struggle for self-determination.   Continue reading

Ogaden Rebels Salutes South Sudan for its Independence, Vows to follow suit

In a statement, the group said the historic moment that had fulfilled the dreams of the South Sudanese people was the outcome of their determination and struggle.

“The people of Ogaden have followed closely the legitimate struggle of the people of South Sudan and welcome the birth of the South Sudan Republic as a positive event in Africa’s history. The struggle of the people of South Sudan was not easy. It required patience and sacrifice”, it said.

The group commended the peace process and efforts exerted by the international community to realise the peaceful North – South Sudan split that ended the longest civil war in Africa. Continue reading
