The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, following his contacts with partner states, has got information that the Albanian American pilot, James Berisha, is currently in Eritrea, in one of the detention facilities of this state.
On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, has sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, as they have good relations with Eritrea, to facilitate the immediate release of Mr. Berisha from isolation.
From the overall information available so far, the health condition of Mr. Berisha is good and that he is being treated in a correct way by the Eritrean authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo is working intensively to make sure that James Berisha is released as soon as possible so that he comes back to his family, collaborators and his very precious lobbying mission for the recognition of Kosovo by the countries that have not yet taken such a decision.
Pilot James Berisha contacted his collaborators for the last time on Monday 15 August from Asmara, Eritrea, while in his mission “Flying for Kosovo”.
According to the members of his team, the Berisha plan was to meet with the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea on Wednesday and get back to Sudan on 17 August.
