Eritrean Airlines will now fly to Cape Town International Airport and OR Tambo Airport four times a week

Eritrean Airlines arrived on its first flight to Cape Town on Monday (7). For the rest of the year it will fly here four times a week, bringing international visitors who joined the flight in Eritrean’s home airport of Asmara from some of its other destinations, including Rome, Frankfurt, Jeddah, Karachi, Lahore and Khartoum.

Eritrean Airlines launched its first flight at Cape Town (South Africa) today.

The flight landed from Asmara in Eritrea at 16h40 to a traditional water canon salute from Airports Company South Africa, Cape Town International Airport’s Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighter department. Continue reading

Eritrean Airlines Expanding its Reaches through Codeshare

Eritrean Airlines recently had entered in to a codeshare agreement with Alitalia via Rome to further expand its flight network as well as provide its customers traveling to and from Asmara with ample flight choices.

Alitalia will now add its “AZ” code to Eritrean Airlines-operated flights travelling between Asmara and Rome. On its part, Eritrean Airlines will add its “ERT” code to AZ-operated flights destined to Asmara via Rome. Continue reading

Two Ethiopian Air Force Planes Collide, SU27 Pilot Killed

Two SF260 Ethiopian Air Force training planes collided and crushed near Dire Dawa, Eastern Ethiopia, during a takeoff and landing training sessions resulting to the death of one SU27 fighter jet pilot and seriously injuring the remaining three pilots.

The Reporter newspaper today reported that the accident that occurred last week resulted when the wing of the first plane that was training a pilot on how to land and takeoff instantly clipped the cockpit of the other trainer’s plane who happens to be on the taxiway preparing to take off. The wing smashed the trainers head and killed him instantly. Continue reading
