Feeding Death Squads; UN’s World Food Program in Ethiopia

“…Why do Ethiopians even bother to vote between their lazy leaders when they should actually be voting between WFP and USAID, because ultimately they’re the ones providing them with most of the public goods.”

Food aid blocked from reaching the over 10 million Ogaden Somalis. WFP remained silent to become an accomplice in the genocide.

By Thomas C. Mountain,

While southern Ethiopia and the Ogaden continues to suffer from the worst drought and famine in 60 years the UN’s World Food Program (WFP) has been turning over all its food aid for the region to the Ethiopian military which uses it to feed the paramilitary death squads conducting a counterinsurgency in the region.

The crimes committed by the UN in the Horn of Africa are legion and the WFP is not new to using its aid as a weapon against the people of our region (see WFP; Angel of Mercy or Angel of Death). Continue reading

Hon. Farah Maalim Defies TPLF Envoy With Historical Facts

“I suppose the Ethiopian ambassador to Kenya, knowing it came from a very dictatorial regime, may not comprehend the dynamics of a liberal democracy like we have in Kenya” – Hon. Farah Maalim, Kenyan Parliament Deputy Speaker

"We cannot afford to have a meaningless antagonism with Eritrea," Farah Maalim

By Farah Maalim,

My attention has been drawn to an article published by The Standard On Saturday on March 24 (see below) by Shemsudin Roble, Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya.

While I initially hesitated to comment and give credence to the commentary by the ambassador on the regional dynamics, I, however, felt it important to clarify certain misinformation and erroneous aspects pertaining to my interview with K24 on March 15 at least for the benefit of Kenyans and other people in the region. I wish to clarify the following issues: Continue reading

China, Oil and Ethnic Cleansing in the Horn of Africa

The insecurity and escalating insurgency in the Ogaden region forced most Chinese workers to wear Ethiopian army uniforms whenever they went for their exploration work in the area.

By Thomas C. Mountain,

Chinese oil workers once again seem to be at the center of a nasty counterinsurgency in the Horn of Africa, in the Ogaden, located in south east Ethiopia.

The Ogaden is home to what is reported to be major deposits of gas and oil, though as in South Sudan, just how much is actually there is still just guess work.

In the 1960’s Western oil companies started finding lots of natural gas and maybe even oil in the region.

Then came various wars and then the US invasion of Somalia in 1992-3 and all the murder and mayhem this little war unleashed amongst the Somali people. Continue reading

West Funds Full Blown Genocide in Ethiopia

As many as 6 million people are starving in Ethiopia’s Somali-populated Ogaden. Children are the most vulnerable

By Thomas C. Mountain,

As the U.N. famine warning center issues urgent reports that millions of Ethiopians are once again starving in the Somali populated Ogaden, the International Committee of the Red Cross publishes a statement that the Ethiopian government has denied the Red Cross an operating permit to carry out relief work in the region.

Blocking the Red Cross from relief work somewhere is almost unheard of yet, when it comes to Ethiopia – headed by the G-20 “statesman” Meles Zenawi – this is business as usual.

For the past four years all aid agencies, including the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and U.N. relief agencies, have been blocked by the Ethiopian military from feeding starving people in Ogadenia. There are millions of starving people, maybe as many as 6 million, though no one can say for sure because no one is allowed into the region. Continue reading
