Eritrea Urges Respect of AU Rules and Procedures, Again

By abusing its privilege of Chairing IGAD and its host country status, Ethiopia continues its violation of AU’s rules and procedures unabated

The Eritrean Foreign Minister, in his recent letter addressed to the Chairperson of the African Union, strongly urged for the respect of the rules and procedures that govern the continental body.

This follows after Ethiopia’s scripted drama of violating  Paragraphs 9 and 10 (a and  b) of Article 8 of the AU’s Peace and Security Council (PSC) protocols to enable it stage another political and diplomatic advantage against Eritrea, by lending a hand this time from Djibouti.  Continue reading

On the Kenyan media in recent days some wisely orchestrated unwise news started to surface and is affecting the people of Kenya, the Somalis and the unfortunate Eritrea. From nowhere reports appeared that: A flight from unknown country landed in Baiodoa , Somalia, to deliver weapons.

Then the news readjusted to be two flights and resurfaced again that there is a third one as well. The news made headlines and started to implicate Eritrea for shipping the armaments. Continue reading

Eritrea’s Official Response to the Somalia Eritrea Monitoring Group Report

Eritrea Responded to the Somalia - Eritrea Monitoring Group (SEMG) Report

Later in July, the Eritrean delegation was intentionally barred from getting a copy of the SEMG Report as a tactic of delaying it from submitting its comprehensive response before the United Nations Security Council Committee Pursuant to Resolution 751(1992) and 1907 (2009) concerning Somalia and Eritrea on the Report of the Somalia/Eritrea Monitoring Group.

Instead, the delegation was allowed at the end to get briefing and access to only some parts of the report, on a limited allotted time. That puts the Eritrean delegation unable to contact relevant authorities in Eritrea for comments and verifications on the various allegations contained in the report. For that reason, the delegation was left only with the option of registering its preliminary but factual response. However, last week, the Eritrean government has submitted its official and full responses to the SEMG report by dissecting the entire accusations line-by-line. Continue reading
