The first pour was part of the plant commissioning process and rendered two dore bars totaling 26 kilograms (approx. 920 ounces), that are worth USD 1.3 Million.

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Meles Zenawi had a scary encounter in December when his aircraft made an emergency landing shortly after take off from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso’s capital, the weekly Reporter newspaper said. Meles was in Burkina Faso to attend that country’s presidential inauguration. Meles left Ouagadougou for Addis Ababa after two days in that country, but his aircraft made an emergency landing minutes after take off due to a damaged windshield.
